Crown Blue Lion Launches New Sport Series GMT Watches SBGN027 and SBGN029 Grand Seiko didn't invent the GMT watch, the credit goes to Rolex or Glycine, but Grand Seiko may have perfected the GMT watch. Previously, the brand has released 46 GMT watches, all over the Spring Drive, Hi-Beat Automatic and High-Accuracy Quartz three movement series. Today, the Crown Blue Lion GMT watch adds two new models, SBGN027 and SBGN029.
The new watch belongs to the Crown Blue Lion Sport collection and is powered by the Caliber 9F86 quartz movement. Like its predecessor, the new watch is a true GMT timepiece, with an hour hand that can be adjusted independently, allowing you to switch to a new time zone when traveling without interrupting regular travel time. In addition, the 9F quartz movement also has other advanced features that are different from the standard quartz movement, such as instantaneous date change, double-pulse control motor, and an average annual error of less than 10 seconds.
In fact, the SBGN027 and SBGN029 are the evolutions of the SBGN003 and SBGN005 that are popular with watch fans. Like its predecessor, the new watch features a 39mm case, sapphire crystal, two-tone day and night GMT scale, fixed stainless steel bezel with 24-hour markers and a three-row stainless steel bracelet, 100-meter water resistance, and hands. And the hour markers are coated with Lumibrite fluorescent material. The difference is that the new watch adopts a new design language, with a more streamlined case profile, wider hands and, most notably, the date aperture and crown being moved to the 4 o’clock position.
The SBGN027 features a black dial with white GMT hands, while the SBGN029 features a blue dial with red GMT hands.
